Test a sending server connection
A connection test helps you detect incorrect credentials or connection addresses early. This action is different from sending a test email.
Open the test tool
Go to Sending → Sending servers, open the server you want to test, then select Test connection.
You must save the server before this button appears. Save any changes under Connection settings before testing again.
Does a connection test send an email?
No. Test connection only attempts to connect using the saved configuration and returns a success or error result.
The Send test email button is a separate action. It requires a recipient address and actually sends a message through the open server.
Understand the result
- Successful: the server accepts the connection test with the current configuration.
- Unsuccessful: the screen displays a message so you can recheck the credentials or connection settings.
The test result does not automatically enable the server and does not replace saving the configuration.
Note: A successful test does not guarantee that every email will send successfully or reach the inbox. The sender identity, limits, recipient status, and sending service policies are still checked during sending.
Troubleshoot connection errors
- Open Edit credentials.
- Compare the host, port, username, and password or access key with the provider's details.
- Check whether the port matches the selected TLS, SSL, or unencrypted option.
- Save the changes.
- Select Test connection again.
Do not include error messages containing sensitive information in public screenshots.
When should you use Send test email?
After the connection succeeds, you can select Send test email, enter a valid address, and confirm the send. This is a real send, not a read-only test.
