Set up two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication requires an additional verification code besides your password when you sign in. This area appears only when the feature is enabled for the system.
Supported methods
- Email verification: sends a one-time code to the login email.
- Authenticator app: uses a TOTP-compatible app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
Mailix does not display SMS, security keys, or recovery codes on this page.
Enable email verification
- Open Account settings → Two-factor authentication.
- Turn on the main switch.
- Turn on Email verification.
Make sure you still have access to the login email before enabling it.
Set up an authenticator app
- Select Set up authenticator app.
- Scan the QR code with a TOTP app. If you cannot scan it, enter the displayed key manually.
- Enter the six-digit code from the app.
- Select Verify & save.
- Enable the authenticator-app method.
Important: The QR code and manually entered key are secret information. Do not photograph, send, or store them publicly.
Reconfigure the app
Select Reconfigure to create a new key, then verify it with the app. After saving the new key, do not rely on the old configuration.
Disable two-factor authentication
Important: Turning off the main switch immediately removes the additional verification layer and disables both methods. The page does not require your current password before this action.
Disable it only when you are on a trusted device. Mailix does not provide customer-facing recovery codes on this page; if you lose access to both the email and the app, contact the system support team.
