Subscription Form Overview

A Subscription Form lets Website visitors provide their email and other information you need. After a successful Form submission, the information is saved to the linked List.

How does a Subscription Form work?

A Form combines four parts:

  1. The List that receives the Subscriber and entered data.
  2. Form content, including input fields, the submit button, and presentation.
  3. The Website where the popup appears.
  4. Publication status, which determines whether the Form is included in the Website connection code.

If the List requires Subscription confirmation, a new Subscriber has Unconfirmed status and receives a confirmation email. Otherwise, they are recorded as Subscribed immediately after a valid submission.

Open the Forms area

Select Forms in the navigation bar.

Subscription Form overview — detail The Forms page displays the total number of Forms and the numbers that are Published and Draft. You can search by name, filter by status or Website, sort, and switch between list and grid views.

Each Form is attached to one List

You select a List when creating a Form. Email is always the Subscriber identifier; other List fields can be included in the Form.

An address that already exists in the List can be updated with data submitted through the Form. A Form does not create a new List or field.

The two Form statuses

StatusMeaning
DraftThe Form is not added to the Website connection code when the page next loads
PublishedThe Form can load on the linked, connected Website

Subscription Form overview — overview Publishing does not automatically link the Form to a Website. You still need to select a Website and install that Website's connection code.

Display a Form on a Website

Forms currently operate as popups. Under Settings, you can choose to display one:

  • immediately when the page loads;
  • only on the first visit;
  • after a delay;
  • when a visitor clicks the specified element;
  • when a visitor shows signs of leaving the page.

One Website can be linked to multiple Forms, while each Form stores only one Website at a time. One connection code on the Website loads all published Forms currently linked to that Website.

What happens when a visitor submits a Form?

Mailix validates the Email, required fields, and a required consent checkbox when the Form uses one. When the data is valid:

  • Mailix creates or updates the Subscriber in the List;
  • Subscription status follows the List's confirmation settings;
  • the popup displays a submission-received message, or redirects if the submit button has been configured with an appropriate link.

The Form also follows the Account and List Subscriber limits. An address on the blocklist cannot be added through the Form.

Actions on the Forms page

Depending on status and Account permissions, you can:

  • select Design or open the Form name to enter the designer;
  • Preview;
  • Publish or Unpublish;
  • search and filter Forms;
  • delete one or more Forms.

Important: Deleting a Form cannot be undone in the interface. The Form disappears from the Website, and its custom design content is no longer available.

Access and availability

A read-only Account can view Forms but cannot create, edit, publish, or delete them. The Forms or Websites module may also be absent depending on system configuration. No separate Form-count limit has been verified; accepting Subscribers still depends on plan limits.

When there are no Forms

The page displays a Create your first form button. Before creating one, you need:

  • at least one List;
  • at least one system-provided Form Template;
  • permission to create Forms.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Form automatically create a new List?

No. Create the List first, then select it when creating the Form.

Does publishing a Form make it immediately appear on the Website?

Only when the Form is linked to a connected Website and the connection code remains installed on that Website. The Website page needs to reload to receive the new configuration.

Does a Form have its own Reports?

The Forms page currently displays status and connection information; no separate view or conversion-rate report has been verified.
